Acute grief reaction for 77% after abortion for foetal abnormality

In a study of 48 women 77% of women who terminated a pregnancy due to foetal malformation reported acute grief. This reaction was akin to that documented after stillbirth or neonatal death. 46% remained symptomatic six months after the pregnancy had been ended, with 5 requiring psychiatric support.
