Hi I am 42 and just found out yesterday that I am pregnant! I have been married for 17 years and have an 11 year old son . My husband is against it straight away saying we are too old and financially will suffer. Also that our son's life could be ruined.
My head agrees when he is brainwashing me but by heart and conscience say otherwise.
I have a Dr appointment for this afternoon and he is coming with me to say we want a termination. I'm scared and confused I don't think I will be able to live with this but could ruin our already volatile marriage.

I think that although you can understand your husband's thinking about the pregnancy you should also listen to what your heart and conscience are telling you. It sounds as though you feel uncomfortable with the idea of abortion because it goes against your core values and beliefs. If you decide to go for abortion you will have to deny that part of yourself, and this will cause you emotional pain afterwards. With a big decision like this you should both be sure that it is right for you and not one pressurising the other, even if it does cause a row. I would suggest that you both go for counselling so that you can both say how you feel in a safe, objective environment. find a centre for pregnancy choices support in your area.
